Worst Broadband Service Providers in U.S.

In today’s day and age, almost every household has Wi-Fi and/or cable. Because technology is evolving every day, it may be hard to decide on which provider would be best. A few things to keep in mind are if your internet/cable will reach every room in your house, connection interruptions, and most importantly, what you get for the price you pay.

While it may be hard to choose the right provider, here are some of the worst broadband providers:

1. BT Broadband

BT prices may look good upfront, but if you take a closer look, these prices aren’t guaranteed for a long time. Prices increase depending on inflation, and other products you buy within the provider. The speed of your broadband also isn’t guaranteed to be fast because it depends on where you live. Even though they say they cover 91% of areas, there’s no promise of speedy service. They are also known for their poor customer service so don’t expect a friendly voice on the other end when calling them for help.

2. Sky Broadband

The broadband service Sky seems to work well for your basic customers. But if you’re an avid internet surfer or love to stream, this may not be the best provider for you. To start with, every package includes a landline rental even if you don’t plan to use it. You will still be charged for that rental so you’ll essentially be paying for something you won’t use. Their packages are mostly focused on phone services so if you’re looking for internet service, this wouldn’t be the provider for you. Even if you did decide to go with this provider, you can expect constant connection interruptions and blackouts.

3. TalkTalk and Virgin Media

TalkTalk and Virgin Media are known for their quality customer care, but that won’t pay the bills. One in 5 customers who chose TalkTalk as their provider, spoke of having blackout periods, the connection would drop frequently, and the internet was slow all together, even when they did not live in a remote area. A perk is that you’ll have a set price, but only for 12 months because after that, the price could increase drastically. Virgin Media is said to be slightly better than other providers, but not by much. More customers are likely to call about price increases at random times, some even saying their price doubled within the first twelve months. Customers of Virgin Media also spoke of going hours or even days without a connection due to problems with their routers.
