Everyone desires flawless skin. Hair removal for women is an important chore that most feel they must regularly perform. In the process, the unwanted hairs are removed from the skin. However, most common hair removal techniques cost both time and money.

Here are the most popular and effective hair removal techniques:

1. Shaving

Shaving is the cheapest way to remove hair in less time. This does not need any sophisticated tools and can be conveniently done at home using a common purpose razor. It is less cumbersome and causes no pain although after shaving, the skin may have a stubby and blunt tip of new hairs. This phase may be quite noticeable. It is effective to remove the hairs from the legs, ankles, underarms, and bikini areas. The merit of shaving is it gives an extra close finish.

2. Waxing

Waxing is the best process to get a smooth finish for extended periods. A large portion of the hair on the skin is cleared at once with this process. This is done through a cool or a warm wax that is placed against the upper skin flapped with the unwanted hairs that can be longer than 1/4th of an inch. Upon hardening of the wax, the wrap is pulled off quickly that uproots the hairs from the skin. This causes pain and irritation. The pain varies according to the skin type.

3. Sugaring

Sugaring is a natural process of hair removal. Lemon, water, and sugar are mixed proportionately. The mixture is then applied in a flickering motion on the areas of the skin where there are unwanted hairs present. This can be a process to remove the hair follicles. The effectiveness of the process is accompanied by a number of benefits. It does not cause any skin irritation, pain, or trauma. Waxing can be used to remove longer hairs while sugaring cannot be applied on hairs longer than 1/16th of an inch. This additionally provides moisture to the skin. The ingredients are hypoallergenic. Water molecules also make the ingredients to penetrate deep within the skin. Thus, additional hairs are removed without nicking the shaft of the hair. The hair will take a longer time to re-grow.

4. Intense pulse light (or IPL)

All other hair removal techniques uproot the hair, but they leave behind the hair follicles. Through intense pulse of light, hair can be permanently removed. This is done by destructing the hair follicles. This laser hair removal therapy uses light energy that gets transformed into heat energy that penetrates via the successive layers of the skin. This is effective to reduce the hair lifelong. One might need to perform successive therapies to get the permanent loss of hair follicles. Some may even notice the finer growth of hair after the treatment. Precautions that need to be taken to prevent any side-effects of this treatment are reducing the exposure to the sun and shaving hair before the treatment.
