Alternative Remedies for Amyloidosis

Many people have never heard of amyloidosis. This disease is caused by a build-up of abnormal amounts of amyloid protein. This protein builds up in your organs and tissues. This causes issues with healthy organ and tissue function, and can eventually lead to disease. Symptoms of amyloidosis include shortness of breath, tingling feeling in limbs, weight loss, and severe fatigue. Without ongoing treatment, organs may also shut down and go into organ failure. Often, by the time you begin to have symptoms, the disease has already progressed.

There are 6 different amyloidosis types. The type you have depends on organs affected and certain risk factors. The most common types are Primary Amyloidosis and are the most

common type, in which the bone marrow produces, abnormal antibodies and it spreads through

the body, affecting your kidneys, liver, intestines and the heart. The second most common type is Secondary Amyloidosis, which is caused by chronic infections and inflammatory disease. This type usually affects the kidneys, but can upset the liver, digestive tract and heart. Unfortunately, there is no cure for amyloidosis, however, the disease can be managed with both traditional and the following alternative treatments. Please keep in mind, your doctor should always be informed of all natural remedies and supplements you take:

1. Apples

Secondary Amyloidosis disease affects the kidneys, so I selected these remedies. Eating apples and drinking apple juice, helps maintain acidity balance, and are also reputed to inhibit the growth of bacteria. 

2. Parsley 

Parsley juice flushes out toxins quickly from the body. It also is just packed, with lots of good vitamins.

3. Fatty fish 

Fish that contains omega 3 fatty acids help with diseases that affect the heart, like amyloidosis can. Fish oil reduces artery plaque and lowers cholesterol. The fish with the  highest content are, herring, mackerel and salmon. 

4. Garlic 

Garlic is great for heart arteries to stay flexible. It also helps blood to and from the heart flow easier.

5. Green tea

The liver may also be affected, so green tea provides great liver protection. Drinking 2 grams teacups daily to help the liver fight oxidative stress, and reduce the signs of fatty liver disease. In addition, green tea protects the body from cellular damage.

6. Peppermint

Peppermint essential oil can be for achy joints. It’s great for arthritis pain associated  with Ginger root is known to be a natural pain reliever. Studies show that 2 grams of this peppermint root ingested daily may help stop muscular pain linked to amyloidosis.
